Seamus Coleman can keep playing until he's 40 - Carlo Ancelotti

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has backed Seamus Coleman to continue playing professional football for another nine seasons.

The 31-year-old Republic of Ireland defender is set for his 250th Premier League start for the Toffees when they take on recently-promoted West Brom on Saturday.

"I can say he will start and so congratulations to him," Ancelotti said this afternoon when confirming that the Donegal man will be in his team tomorrow.

"It's a great achievement. We are honoured to have him as a captain in this team. Seamus can play until he's 40. He's still young."

The Everton boss has also been pleased by how his new signings Allan, James Rodriguez and Abdoulaye Doucoure have been fitting into the club during their first week of full training with their teammates.

“The new players are in good condition, they adapted well in the game against Tottenham Hotspur.

“They trained well this week. I gave a rest to them and other players, to prepare well for tomorrow’s game.

“In general, it is important to rotate the players, in the beginning. Nobody is 100 per cent fit. We can use training to improve their physical conditions.

“Allan and James Rodriguez have international experience, Abdoulaye Doucoure played really well in the Premier League. They brought more confidence to their teammates.”
