Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær is under the most pressure he has ever been since taking over at the club.

His side were beaten 5-0 by Liverpool in the Premier League on a humiliating Sunday afternoon at Old Trafford.

Mo Salah scored a hat-trick with Naby Keita and Diogo Jota also finding the back of the net for the visitors.

United were booed off at half-time with some fans leaving throughout the second half.

Speaking to Sky Sports at full-time, Solskjær said it was his worst day since taking over as manager almost three years ago.

"It's not easy to say something apart from it's the darkest day I've had leading these players and we weren't good enough.

"Individually or as a team, you can't give a team like Liverpool them chances, and unfortunately we did.

"The whole performance wasn't good enough, that's for sure.

"We created openings, they've had chances, they've been clinical, we didn't take our chances early on and the third goal obviously is the one that decided the game."

Liverpool didn't even look near their best in this demolition job.

The game looked a world away from the relentless, high-pressure, high-intensity meetings they've had with Manchester City in recent seasons.

United were simply so poor defending in the first half with the visitors looking like they could score every time they attacked.

When asked about responsibility for the performance and the tactics, Solskjær accepted he must accept it.

"It's mine, that's it.

"The coaching staff are very, very good, brilliant.

"I choose the way we approach the game and today we weren't clinical enough going forward, there was spaces for both teams and when you give good players spaces they score."

Liverpool went in 4-0 at the break.

That was the first-ever time in the Premier League United trailed by such a score at half-time at Old Trafford.

Solskjær said no loss before compares to this.

"You can look back at last season, we loose the big one to Spurs 6-0, this is worse, miles worse.

"The opposition as well makes it miles worse for me.

"We have to really get over this as quick as we can and move on."

Solskjær's future as Manchester United manager has to be under serios pressure after this.

He said he accepts it's a results business and that the pressure is only going to intensify.

He also said though that he is the man to bring them forward and praised the fans who stayed in the stadium.

"I've come too far, we've come too far as a group and we're too close to give up now.

"They [the supporters] were fantastic and it could have gone one way or the other.

"In true Man United supporter way they stayed and supported the team until the end."

"I understand human nature, players are going to be low but then you just look into the eyes and the character of them.

"I know there's loads of characters there, we know we're rock bottom, it can't feel any worse than this so let's see where we take it."
