Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are set to play a coronavirus relief golf match next month with Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

CNBC are reporting that the charity match would be held at an undisclosed location without fans and it is being organised by the PGA Tour and AT&T’s WarnerMedia.

Woods and Mickelson played each other in a multi-million dollar matchplay exhibition back in 2018, an event that was pay-per-view.

15-time major winner Woods is set to be paired with two-time Super Bowl winner Manning. Five-time major champion Mickelson will be alongside Brady, who has an NFL-record six Super Bowl titles.

"Discussions along these lines have been ongoing for quite some time, but nothing has been approved by the tour," the PGA Tour said in a statement.

A small crew will be present to film the event and social-distancing will also be in place.

Woods last competed in mid-February before he withdrew from a number of tournaments due to a back injury, while Mickelson finished third in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in early February before the tour was suspended.

The Masters and US PGA have already been postponed and it's only a matter of time before the US Open and Open Championship follow suit.

The 2020 Ryder Cup is scheduled to take place at Whistling Straits in September and European captain Padraig Harrington said earlier this week that if golf has resumed by then, he would like them to play the event.
