Top-15 finish for Austin O'Connor and Colorado Blue

There was no medal but there was a promising performance for Austin O'Connor and Team Ireland on Monday.

O'Connor, aboard Colorado Blue, secured a 13th place finish in the Individual Eventing final.

The pair picked up a total of four faults in the final and finished on a total of 46.00.

Austin O'Connor finished 18th to progress to the final, but Sam Watson (30th) and Sarah Ennis (36th) missed out.

The trio combined in the team event, meanwhile, to secure a creditable 8th place finish.

Elsewhere, Team Ireland had a number of athletes in action on the track.

Despite clocking a season's best time, Phil Healy's attempts to reach the women's 200 metres semi-finals came up short.

Her time of 23.21 was not enough to progress beyond the heats.

In the women's 1500 metres, both Ciara Mageean and Sarah Healy missed out on a place in the semi-finals.

Mageean ran a time of 4.07.29, while Healy finished in 4.09.78.

Neither was good enough for a place in the semi-finals.

Afterwards, Mageean revealed that a calf hampered her preparations in the lead up to the Games.

In the pool, Oliver Dingley's 25th place finish in the 3-metre springboard preliminaries saw his interest end in the competition.

The 28-year-old was a finalist in Rio five years ago.
