Do you have any standout sporting memories from your youth? For the sports fan the great moments are brought to life by the sporting commentators privileged enough to be there to witness the action first hand. When someone passes on tributes are paid and I always think, I hope this person knew the esteem in which they were held while they were alive. Racing is coming to terms with the passing of Peter O’Sullevan, who died at the age of 97. Born in Kerry he was the man who provided the soundtrack to racing’s unfolding drama for nigh on 50 years that's 50 Grand Nationals and 14,000 races.
The mood suitably summed by by Clare Balding.
Incomparable, irreplaceable, indelible. Sir Peter will never be matched & never forgotten. The ultimate pro & the definition of a gentleman

Sir Peter O'sullivan, the epitome of class. The most distinguished & eloquent voice of racing. He was an amazing man R.I.P

Kildare native Michael Walsh a driver with Musgraves reckons this was one of the highpoints of O'Sullevan's career.
