David Feeney could be potentially called the most devoted Irish fan ever. He has bought the Australian TV rights for the World Cup Qualifier against Sweden on September 6th.

He’s been in Australia for 16 years and missed dozens of crucial WC and Euro qualifier games but decided he didn’t want to miss any more....

He bought the rights after he had to listen to Ireland v Austria on Internet Radio and couldn’t watch the game on TV.

David then got in touch with a an old friend who was a few years below him in school and works for RTE – he helped him get access to the company who have the international rights to Ireland’s home games.

He made a bid for the rights and once he won them, David had to figure out how to get them on TV or into venues – after my wife Lesley, approved the purchase! (According to one newspaper this morning, David paid thousands for the rights!)

The match will be televised on David’s fledgling ''Channel 33'' in the early hours of the morning on Australia's east coast at venues including sports bars and a casino in Sydney and the Celtic Club in Melbourne.

David explained all to Ian this morning, live from Sydney...
