With all the St. Patrick’s Day festivities, Irish music was blaring out of every station around the country and we heard a classic song from The Frames called Perfect Opening Line. It got us thinking here on the show. What is the perfect opening line of a song?! You know the type, that one line that rings out and grabs your attention! Maybe The Rolling Stones 'Sympathy For The Devil'? How about Adele's simple but effective 'Hello'? We got some great suggestions this morning - the best of which are below.
This morning we are looking for what you think is the perfect opening line to a song. All suggestions welcome. @todayfm #PerfectOpeningLine

The song we received the most texts about this morning was for Josh Ritter's song 'Kathleen' & the line 'all the other girls here are stars, you are the northern lights'. And Josh was so happy about the news that he tweeted Iano himself.
@IanDempsey @todayfm Ian! Howdy! You just made my day! Say hi to all my friends in the verdant isle!

And what a great song it is!
For us, the winner was from Shane in Kilkenny who text into the show.
'Iano, best opening line? Big Jack "We've qualified for the world cup, go and compete!" Go on, play it .... Go on'
