We have added a couple of gems to the Paul McLoone 2019 playlist this week. There's something in there from Bruce Springsteen's latest release. His new album Western Stars is out tomorrow, June 14th and it's new territory for The Boss. Western Stars is so different to anything Springsteen has released before that he has had to assure fans that he'll be back recording and touring with the E Street Band later this year.
This new album's orchestration consists of strings and French horn, female backing vocals, guitars with tremolo effects, pedal steel... cinematic through and through. This track still has a good bit of country to it though, listen to Tucson Train here:
Also featuring on the playlist is Jonathan Bree, he comes to Ireland on June 28th playing an intimate gig in Whelan's of Wexford Street in Dublin. Bree calls himself a master of misery and his live shows are nothing short of theatrical, complete with masks and pantomime. His music has been described as alluring, dreary pop and we love it.
Not too far removed from Jonathan Bree, Lana Del Rey features here with her melancholic, dreamy trademark sound. Most recently the musician has featured on the cover of Vogue Italia, the edition of the mag included her poetry. Have a listen to the poetry behind her latest song, Doin' Time.
These songs have all been added to The Paul McLoone playlist below and make sure to follow to make sure you get all of the latest additions. Hear them first though on The Paul McLoone Show, Monday to Thursday, live from 9pm.
