Kevin Lunney has told the Special Criminal Court that the “journey to full accountability” for what happened to him isn’t yet complete.

The director of Quinn Industrial Holdings made the remark through a victim impact statement at the sentencing hearing of three men who abducted and tortured him.

After returning home from a day’s work at Quinn Industrial Holdings in 2019, Kevin Lunney was bundled into the back of a car and taken to a yard in Co Cavan where he was stripped, punched, beaten with a stick, attacked, and branded with a knife, doused in bleach, and then dumped on the side of a quiet country road.

Earlier this month, three men were found guilty of falsely imprisoning and seriously assaulting him.

Throughout his ordeal, he was repeatedly told to step down from his position, and in his victim impact statement, Mr. Lunney described how a campaign of intimidation against the business led to his abduction and he said that campaign was “intensely difficult” for those directly targeted and a cause of much apprehension and fear in the wider community.

The three men who abducted and assaulted him will be sentenced next month.
