Addressing the overriding issues of the late seventies and early eighties, its no wonder The Clash's London Calling is Rolling Stone magazine's Greatest Album of the 1980's and number 8 on their 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

It was their third studio album and dealt with social problems, drugs and racism through many styles of music from punk to R&B to jazz to reggae to soul, funk and rockabilly.

It has sold over 5 million records and went platinum in America.

It was made when the band was in a mountain of debt. Band mates Joe Strummer and Mick Jones wrote parts of it in Mick's granny's house, yet they managed to get the legendary Guy Stevens to produce it.

Keep The Paul McLoone Show locked for his weekly #ClassicAlbumOfTheWeek, Monday to Thursday from 9pm
