Paul McLoone's classic album of the week is the debut from The Velvet Underground, The Velvet Underground & Nico. It's celebrating 50 years since it's release.
It wasn't commercially successful back in 1967, covering very controversial topics from BDSM, to drug abuse. But now it's recognized as one of the most influential albums of all time.
Most of the album was recorded over 4 days in 1966. FOUR DAYS! Andy Warhol is credited with producing the album, but he had very little to do with it's creation in reality. He paid for the recording sessions.
You can hear songs from it on the show all week.
