The days of our Christmas school plays are long behind us, but never forgotten.

So many of us arrived to take our place in the nativity dressed in a sheet and a dishcloth portraying the part of a Shepard.

"Do you remember your mam would washing the dish cloth like crazy so you could wear it on your head to be a Shepard in the Christmas Choir."

In those days our parents did not have the luxury to head online and order in that perfect costume.

Oh no! Our stage looks were made by hand, with whatever our mam or dad could find lying around the house.

And for Dave in Dublin, whatever was lying around fast food restaurants,

"I had to wear a crown for my Christmas play, I was one of the three wise men, instead of making one or grabbing one for the euro shop my da took one of those paper crowns from Burger king, Thanks Da" – Dave, Dublin

The there was just the poor unfortunates who never made the cut for leading roles,

"My daughter played a sheep in her school Christmas play and as soon as she seen me she roared crying screaming maaaaa"

"For my school play I played a rock, they spray painted a sheet grey and threw it over me, have to hand it to my mother she still came and watched the whole thing." Ciara, Newcastle

"My ma used to always leave it to the last minute to do my costume, one year I was playing the north star, she completely forgot and grabbed some Prit Stick put it all over my face and through a tub of glitter over me!!"

If you don't remember what part you played, be sure to ask your parents they will of course have a collection of embarrassing photos somewhere in the house.
