The Sky Cat Laughs Comedy Festival will mark its 21st birthday with a bumper ‘coming of age’ celebration that includes a special birthday bash gig, musical hoedown, physical comedy showcase, comedic tribute to past comedy heroes, premiere screenings of forthcoming Sky comedy programming and a stellar line-up of some of the best comedic talent in the world.

Deirdre O’Kane, Ardal O’Hanlon, Al Porter, Neil Delamere, Barry Murphy, Jason Byrne, Bernard O’Shea, PJ Gallagher, Aisling Bea, David O’Doherty, Andrew Maxwell, Gearóid Farrelly, Colin Murphy, Colm O’Regan, Karl Spain, Eleanor Tiernan, Chris Kent and Fred Cooke are amongst the Irish talent performing at this year’s festival.

Top UK headliners include Jack Dee and 8 out of 10 Cats team captain Jon Richardson. Aussie stand up Bec Hill, David Letterman regular Al Lubel and Mike Wilmot will also be performing.

Sky Arts Physical Comedy stars will also join the line-up for special premieres. Johnny Vegas, Kevin Eldon, John Kearns and Pat Cahill will all visit Kilkenny for an exclusive event that will bring festival goers the world premieres of three brand new Sky Arts physical comedy shorts.

Sky will premiere Brilliantman!, Three Kinds of Stupid and Rotters at the festival on Sunday 31st May in advance of a forthcoming physical comedy strand on Sky Arts this autumn. Physical comedy features mime, acrobatics and corporeal movement to tell a comic tale, with Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd and Jerry Lewis all masters of the genre.

Brilliantman!

All three screenings will take place at 4pm on Sunday 31st May in Langton’s Set Theatre. Following the screenings, all of the stars will take part in an on stage Q&A where the audience will get a chance to ask their own questions. Entry is free but tickets must be reserved in advance and early booking is advised.

The 2015 Sky Cat Laughs Comedy Festival takes place across Kilkenny city from Thursday 28th May to Monday 1st June.
