15 People Rescued After Being Swept Out To Sea In Donegal

15 people have been rescued after getting into difficulty while swimming in Co Donegal.

It happened after 4pm off Magheroarty pier in the west of the county.

10 people were airlifted to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment by the Rescue 118 Helicopter while 5 others were treated at the scene by waiting ambulances.

A spokesperson for Malin Head Coast Guard said the rescue was assisted by the Tory Ferry Queen of Aran and Mulroy Coast Guard Unit.

They said it was a very lucky outcome and thanked the public for speedily alerting them.
