Hiring plans are at their highest level in six years, despite the ongoing cost of living crisis.

A new report by recruitment firm, Hays Ireland, shows 90% of bosses plan on hiring new staff next year.

Three quarters plan on hiring full-time permanent workers, while a similar number say they plan to increase salaries over the next 12 months.

When it comes to employees' views, pay remains the top reason people changed jobs last year, and is expected to be the main driver for movement in the coming year.

The survey also found 92% of employers say they've experienced skills shortages over the last 12 months.

Maureen Lynch, Operations Director at Hays Ireland said, “Despite suggestions of economic uncertainty, our 2023 Salary & Recruiting Trends Guide paints a brighter picture. Our data shows that, on balance, employers remain optimistic that 2023 will see further economic and job growth across sectors, including accountancy and finance, engineering, and healthcare".
