The Minister for Agriculture is appealing to beef farmers to end their blockades outside meat factories.

Minister Michael Creed says the international reputation of Irish beef is being put in jeopardy by the protests which have been ongoing for the past two months.

Pickets are continuing outside the ABP Meat Plant in Waterford today, despite a vote to end the protests passing last night.

Farmers outside other factories are meeting to determine if they'll continue with their blockades over beef prices.

Speaking at the National Ploughing Championships in Co. Carlow, Minister Michael Creed made this appeal:

"I would ask them earnestly to consider where we're at now, to consider the detail of the agreement".

"I would ultimately ask them to step away from the blockades now".

"I think it is time to acknowledge that there is a bigger picture here".
