End Of Remote Working: Thousands Return To Office Today

Today marks the beginning of the end of remote working for thousands of workers nationwide.

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions is urging people to make sure their employers are sticking to the pandemic safety plan.

Employers have a duty to make sure social distancing is still being practiced and that rooms are kept ventilated.

ICTU general secretary Patricia King says health and safety should be a priority for every company.

"Every employer must complete a risk assessment of the workplace."

"Every workplace should select a lead worker representative who will have responsibility to make sure all safety measures are put in place."

For some workers, today will mark a return to a workplace which they haven't seen since March 2020.

Director of CIPD Ireland, Mary Connaughton says employers need to give staff time to get used to the change.

"Treat the next few weeks as an induction period give them a chance to refamiliarise themselves with each other."

She said it's the first time some people will be meeting new team members.
