A Garda investigation has been launched after a bag of excrement was allegedly thrown at two politicians at a meeting in Galway last night.
Minister of State for Disability Anne Rabbitte, and Fine Gael TD Ciaran Cannon, tweeted about the incident, which happened at a public meeting in Gort.
Gardaí say they are "investigating all the circumstances" relating to the incident.
Politicians from across the political divide have been showing their support online for the two Government TDs.
