Gardaí have seized cocaine worth around €350,000 following the search of a premises in Dublin yesterday.

In addition to the drugs, encrypted communications devices were also seized from the premises in the Cherry Orchard area of Ballyfermot.

A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Clondalkin garda station.

He has been detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The search was carried out as part of an ongoing intelligence-led investigation targeting serious crime being carried out by an organised crime group (OCG) in Dublin.

Officers from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and a Special Crime Task Force undertook the search.

Following the seizure, Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll, who heads the special crime operations division said: "The Garda Síochána is alert to the fact that particular criminals and organised crime groups may continue to operate while we are tackling issues associated with the existence of the coronavirus or may attempt to take advantage of its existence."
