The Government is to publish new legislation today giving Gardai new powers to crack down on pubs and restaurants who are not complying with public health guidelines.
The organisation representing rank and file members of the force says the speculation around the new rules is confusing for both the public and Gardaí.
The Garda Representative Association says communication from Government isn't straight forward enough.
Last week the Government considered a proposal to make organising or attending a house party of more than six people a criminal offense, but it was ultimately decided against.
