Property prices increased by 14% in the past year.

Nationally, the median house price for the year to June was €290,000.

The least expensive Eircode area over the last 12 months was the F45 area which includes, parts of Roscommon, Galway and Mayo. The median price for a home there was nearly €126,000.

The most expensive Eircode was around Blackrock in Dublin where the median price was just over €933,000.

Chair of the Association of Irish Mortgage Advisors is Trevor Grant, he says high prices are here to stay unless supply increases significantly:

"We fundamentally have a housing crisis in Ireland - we don't have enough houses.

"And no matter how creative everybody is in relation to assisting first-time buyers particularly to get onto the ladder with innovation on how to lend money to them, be it extending the duration of the mortgage, or lending them more in terms of an income multiple.

"There simply aren't enough houses, and until there are enough properties then we're going to see continued house price inflation."
