A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with a dog attack in county Wexford.

Gardaí say they are continuing to investigate all circumstances around the incident.

The man was taken into custody this morning and is being held at Enniscorthy Garda Station.

Nine-year-old Alejandro Mizsan was attacked while playing near his home in Enniscorthy on Sunday.

He was airlifted to hospital in Dublin where he has undergone multiple surgeries.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up by neighbours to help his family with the costs of his injuries.

Alejandro’s older brother Raul Miszan said his face is “completely destroyed”.

“He has no lips and his face is in bits,” he said. “I don’t know how to describe it.

“His face is not like he used to be anymore; his face is completely changed. He is not the same anymore.

“We can’t really recognise him the way he looks now at the moment. He is in terribly bad condition.”

He said Alejandro is a “very friendly child” who is much loved by everyone at school and around the neighbourhood.

“Everyone loves him because he is very friendly and he likes to chat and stuff like this,” he said. “But now, at this moment, I don’t think he can talk anymore and it is just terrible.

“He is the most loved in our family. Everybody spoiled him; everybody loved him and now just the news is just terrible.

“He is just in a very bad way. It is terrible.”
