It's emerged the man who opened fire at a shopping centre in Carlow was on bail for firearms offences.
Gardaí are continuing to investigate the shooting and death of 22-year-old Evan Fitzgerald in Carlow Town.
He was arrested last year, along with two others, and appeared in court facing charges of possessing firearms and explosive materials.
He died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds after being confronted by armed Gardai during the incident at Fairgreen Shopping Centre on Sunday evening.
A technical examination of the car park has concluded and cars are being returned to their owners, however, the shopping centre remains closed.
Mr Fitzgerald's body has been taken to the mortuary in Dublin where a post-mortem will be carried out by the State Pathologist on Tuesday.
