McDonald's says it's carrying out operational tests this week as it puts plans in place to reopen in the UK and Ireland.
All branches closed on the 24th March due to Covid-19 restrictions and social distancing concerns.
The fast-food giant says it will consider opening in a limited capacity taking into account social distancing measures and Personal Protective Equipment
But the company says for now outlets remain shut.
In a statement, McDonald's UK and Ireland CEO Paul Pomroy said:
'Recently, we began working through a potential and limited reopening. We have been listening to our employees and customers as well as engaging with government and trade bodies in the UK and Ireland to help ensure we do this responsibly when the time is right.'
'For now we remain closed, and will only reopen when we are absolutely confident we can have the right measures in place to ensure everyone’s wellbeing.'
