Met Éireann's extended its Status Yellow Warning for snow and ice to the whole country.

Wintry showers of hail, sleet, and snow are expected to stick in parts, and the forecaster is warning of icy stretches on roads and footpaths.

A yellow alert for wind is also un place for Donegal until 5 pm.

Met Éireann forecaster, Matthew Martin, says wintry showers will continue for the next 24 hours.

He says very cold polar maritime air has moved from the Atlantic, originating in Greenland.

The heaviest accumulations of snow are likely on high ground but slight build-ups might also be experienced in lower-lying areas as well.
