The newest recruit to the Garda mounted unit has been named Senan.
The name, which means "wise one", was chosen for the horse following a competition on social media.
More than 7,000 entries were submitted over the past week.
People were asked to keep Irish mythology in mind when putting forward a suggestion.
However, some chose otherwise with suggestions such as Roboclop and Shergarda among those put forward.
