More than 2,000 covid-19 patients are now in hospital for the first time since the start of the pandemic.

2,023 people with the disease are being treated on wards this morning.

That's 28% higher than last Monday.

In the past 24 hours, there have been 115 admissions and 39 discharges.

There are now 200 people receiving treatment in intensive care units.

This morning, HSE CEO Paul Reid said there are over 400 people across the hospital system receiving oxygen.

He says healthcare workers are trying hard to remain in control.
