Private Sean Rooney's remains are being repatriated home to Ireland this afternoon.
A UN ceremony is being held to honour Private Rooney at Beirut Airport, prior to his departure, at 2pm Irish time on board an Irish Air Corps CASA aircraft.
His body is being flown to Dublin's Casement Aerodrome at Baldonnel, where his remains will be reunited with his family tomorrow.
24 year old Private Rooney was killed in an attack on Wednesday in which three of his colleagues were also injured.
The attack is now the subject of three separate investigations, by UNIFIL, Lebanese authorities and the Irish Defence Forces.
The Irish army has flown a team of experts to support his battalion and find out exactly what happened.
A 2nd peacekeeper, Shane Kearney, remains in critical condition in hospital with a head injury.
Two of his colleagues have been treated for their injuries and are now safely back to Camp Shamrock.
Newly appointed Foreign Affairs Minister Micheál Martin says the government is determined to get to the truth.
The Minister has also warned that getting the truth 'will be challenging'.
