The reproductive rate of the Coronavirus is now estimated to be at 0.7 according to the Health Minister.

Simon Harris says it's a positive sign that the rate remains below one as the re-opening of the economy continues.

The Health Minister told the Dáil the new government will have to work hard to rebuild the country in the wake of COVID-19:

"I have been informed by Professor Philip Nolan, the chair of the modelling group, that the reproduction number remains thankfully below one."

"It is now estimated to be around 0.7, so good news that despite the fact that we are reopening, that number still remains below one."

"Once it remains below one, we are continuing to suppress and reduce the prevalence of the virus."

Meanwhile, 20 people are currently being treated in ICU's for Covid-19, which is down from a peak of 160 in April.

There's a total of 62 confirmed cases in hospitals, down from a high of 879.

16 facilities currently have no confirmed cases.
