'Sick Joke' - Taoiseach Describes Level Of Aid Allowed Into Gaza

The Taoiseach Micheal Martin says the amount of aid being allowed into Gaza is a "sick joke".

Micheal Martin says the world is disgusted with the level of bombing and starvation and says the weaponisation of aid is a war crime.

Aid has started entering Gaza for the first time in nearly three months - although only five lorries were allowed in yesterday.

The UN has been granted permission from Israel for 100 additional aid trucks to enter Gaza.

Earlier this week the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said they were allowing aid into Gaza due to pressure from international allies.

A joint statement from the leaders of France, Britain and Canada has described the amount of aid allowed into Gaza as 'wholly inadequate'.

Mark Carney, Emmanuel Macron and Keir Starmer say the Israeli Government must stop its invasion of the Palestinian territory and work with the UN to allow aid enter Gaza.

They say the blockade, which was imposed by Israel for the past few months, 'risks' breaching international law.
