Social Welfare Christmas Bonus to be Paid This Week

The Christmas Bonus will be paid to 1 point 5 million social welfare recipients this week.

€370 million in total will be distributed to those receiving long-term social welfare payments, including pensioners, carers, and people with disabilities.

It's typically 100% of a person's usual weekly payments.

The Government says its an acknowledgement many households are struggling this Christmas, with rising costs putting added pressure on families.

The bonus will be issued alongside regular weekly payments.
