Three men wearing balaclavas are believed to have been responsible for this afternoon's fatal shooting in Coolock.

It's the third such incident in the north Dublin area in the past week.

Early last week, two Coolock residents - Sean Little and Jordan Davis - were shot dead in the Darndale and Balbriggan areas respectively.

This latest attack happened in the Kilbarron Avenue area of Coolock at 3.30pm.

A man in his early forties was pronounced dead at the scene after a fatal shooting incident.

It occurred in the front garden of a house, which is believed to have been the home of Sean Little, who was killed last week.

The body remains at the scene pending examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.

Gardaí believe three men wearing balaclavas were involved in this incident and left the scene in a silver Toyota Avensis.

This vehicle was found abandoned and on fire in the Castletymon Gardens area of Coolock at about 3.45pm.

The scene remains preserved for a Garda technical examination and gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
