"Tough it Out" - Donald Trump Urges Pregnant Women Not To Take Tylenol Painkillers

The White House is urging pregnant women to stop using pain medication Tylenol over unproven links it may cause autism.

Donald Trump made the unfounded claim last night after previously hinting he had found the "answer" to the condition.

Some studies have shown a link between pregnant women taking Tylenol and autism, but these findings are inconsistent and inconclusive.

The president is facing backlash from health experts, as doctors in the US will be told pregnant women should avoid the drug.

Donald Trump says pregnant women should "tough it out" and only take Tylenol sparingly, and only in certain cases.

Kenvue, who produces Tylenol, has defended the use of the drug in pregnant women with much of the science pointing against Trump's claims.

Adam Harris, CEO of As I Am, says it will lead to a rise in stigma towards autism.

"It was like being brought 20 or 30 years back in time," he said, "It leads to a growth in what is a cottage industry of misproven and non-evidence based, so-called treatments around autism".

He continued, "Of course, it poses broader public health concerns, both for pregnant women and also in terms of preventable disease".
