Two men have appeared in court charged in connection with the seizure of €2.5m worth of cocaine in Dublin over the weekend.

They were arrested by officers from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau on Saturday.

Gardaí claim Dmitrys Venskovics, a 44-year-old Latvian man, was the driver of a truck involved in the transport of the drugs.

His solicitor Michael French said a bail application would be brought later this week, and he said he’d provide Gardaí with an address in this jurisdiction before then.

58-year-old Charles Coyle, with an address in Cootehill, Co. Cavan also appeared in court today.

He’s accused of being the driver of a second vehicle used at the alleged handover at a filling station in Lusk, Co. Dublin on Saturday afternoon.

The court heard it will be claimed that his truck took possession of the drugs from the vehicle allegedly being driven by his co-accused.

Mr. Coyle’s bail application was granted subject to him providing a court-approved surety to put up €25,000 as security.

Both men are due back in court on Friday.
