A woman in her 20s has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of Daniel Aruebose.

The remains of the boy, who would now be eight-years-old, were found during a search of open ground in Donabate in north Dublin in September.

He was last seen alive at his home at the Gallery apartments four years ago, when he was just three-years-old.

Concern was only raised when officials from the Department of Social Protection carried out checks on a social welfare payment, prompting an investigation.

Members of the public leave flowers, candles and teddy bears at the site in Donabate, north Dublin, where skeletal remains believed to be those of missing seven-year-old Daniel Aruebose were found yesterday. The discovery follows a two-week search operation involving national Garda units, PSNI cadaver dogs, and external forensic specialists, with investigators now preparing for a sensitive exhumation and DNA analysis to confirm the child’s identity. DNA analysis has since confirmed the skeletal remains to be those of the little boy and a homicide investigation was launched by gardaí earlier this month.

A woman was arrested as part of the investigation on Monday morning.

She's being held at a garda station in Dublin where she can be questioned for up to 24 hours.
