The woman who was found dead in Cork City this morning has been named as 28 year old Bruna Fonseca.
She was discovered at an apartment on Liberty Street at about half past six this morning.
A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with Bruna Fonseca's death and he is being held at Bridewell Garda Station.
A post mortem on the body has been completed today by the State Pathologist.
But Gardai are not releasing the results - they say that's for 'operational reasons.'
The inquiry is being lead by a senior investigating officer and a Garda Liaison has been appointed to link in with Bruna's family.
The scene is still sealed off this evening, so officers can carry out the necessary examinations.
Investigations are ongoing and Gardai say further updates will follow.
