France head coach Fabien Galthié tests positive for COVID-19

France rugby head coach Fabien Galthié has tested positive for COVID-19.

His diagnosis comes just 48-hours removed from Les Bleus' 15-13 victory over Ireland in the Six Nations.

France players and staff were given a fresh round of PCR testing on Monday, ahead of their return to their training base in Marcoussis.

All members of the travelling party - bar two - returned negative results.

Those two members of management were re-tested on Tuesday morning, with Galthié providing a continued positive result.

The 51-year old will have to isolate for a period of seven days, but is asymptomatic.

The IRFU said on Tuesday that the Ireland squad was unaffected by the outbreak in the France camp. They said "All members of the Ireland squad and backroom team undertook routine PCR tested on Monday producing no positive results.

"The group will undergo further routine testing  again this week as per our protocols."

Further testing of the French squad will take place in camp on Wednesday, at their homes on Friday, and at the National Rugby Centre on Sunday evening.
