Gavin Bazunu happy to play hero's role in draw against Serbia

Gavin Bazunu admits he had a busy night against Serbia but he was 'delighted' to play his part in earning a point for the Republic of Ireland.

The Manchester City teenager, who is on loan at Portsmouth this season, made a series of great saves to deny the visitors in tonight's 1-1 draw at the Aviva Stadium.

A late Nikola Milenkovic own-goal after some sustained Irish pressure saw Stephen Kenny's team rescue a point in the World Cup qualifier.

"It was brilliant, I had a lot to do and I was happy I was able to make a few saves in the game," the former Shamrock Rovers stopper told RTE Sport.

"I was delighted we were able to come with a result in the end because the lads deserved it. We put in a really good performance.

"I was delighted to be able to contribute my part for the team. That's my job as a goalkeeper. Hopefully I can continue to do it.

And it was great to have a crowd here. My first game here was without fans and the difference with them in is immense, it spurs you on. It helps you create chances and stay in the game."
