James Lowe has confirmed that he's agreed a new three-year deal with Leinster to keep him at the Province until 2023.

Leinster announced last week that Lowe was one of 28 players to receive a new senior contract but as always they did not disclose the finer details of the deal.

Lowe is still in his native New Zealand, where he has been since March after the COVID-19 pandemic put the season on hold.

Lowe says he's excited to be staying in Dublin for another three years after joining from the Chiefs in 2017.

The 27-year-old Kiwi has scored 27 tries in his 43 starts for the province, making him an integral part of the team.

Lowe will be eligible to represent Ireland in November through World Rugby's three-year residency rule, which has been extended to five years but that rule change came into play after Lowe's arrival in Ireland.

Leo Cullen's squad returned to group training last week so Lowe has missed the start of pre-season.

The Guinness Pro14 season is due to resume on August 22nd with Interprovincial derbies at the Aviva Stadium, while the EPCR announced last week that the Heineken Champions Cup quarter-finals will take place in mid-September.

Meanwhile, Saracens captain Brad Barritt will be available to face Leinster in that European quarter-final.

Barritt was due to leave this summer but has signed a contract extension to take him through to the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

Last season's champions have lost a few players since their relegation from the Premiership was confirmed due to salary cap breaches but England internationals Maro Itoje, Mako Vunipola, Owen Farrell, Elliot Daly, Billy Vunipola and Jamie George have all decided to stay.
