1,144 New Cases Of COVID-19 Reported In Ireland

The Department of Health has reported 1,144 new cases of COVID-19 this evening.

It brings the five-day moving average of new cases to 1,438 - down from 1,567 yesterday.

There are 384 people currently in hospital with the virus, including 59 who are in ICU.

Today's figures come on the same day as a significant easing of remaining COVID-19 restrictions.

Organised indoor events and mass gatherings can now take place, with attendance set at 60% of the venue capacity - provided all attendees are immune, vaccinated or accompanied minors.

There's a larger capacity limit of 75% on outdoor events and mass gatherings.

However, crowds will have to remain seated at indoor gigs for now.
