Grocery inflation is still at more than 15%.

However, it's the lowest rate recorded so far this year.

Figures from Kantar show the average price of products in shops went up by 15.8%.

Those are in the three months to the middle of June.

The study also noticed that people are buying more items on promotion - with their sales rising compared to last year.

Own brand products continue to rise in sales with them increasing by almost 29%.

While ready meals have also gone up - shoppers have spent almost three million euro extra on them compared to last year.

The retail forum met last week with the Government asking supermarkets to do something about increasing prices - with shop bosses expecting some reductions in the coming weeks.

A report from the CCPC also found that supermarkets were not engaging in excessive pricing.
