A Garda investigation has been launched after a man was found unconscious on a Co. Monaghan street last night.
The man was found with serious head injuries on O'Neill Street in Carrickmacross.
The discovery was made shortly before midnight.
He has been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment.
Gardaí are appealing for people with information to come forward.
O'Neill Street in Carrickmacross has been closed and diversions are in place.
