Irish people spend around €2.2 billion on food deliveries and takeaways every year.

Takeaways are ordered an average of three times a month and people spend an average of €46.69.

Just Eat's Food Delivery report has found takeaways are most likely ordered to share with over half (54%) of restaurants saying orders are for at least two people.

Over half of customers are interested in knowing the carbon footprint of their food deliveries, with over a third saying they'd choose restaurants that used more sustainable packaging.

The report also shows that Irish people are increasingly ordering their grocery shopping to their door.

Amanda Roche Kelly, Managing Director, Just Eat Ireland, says the food delivery and takeaway industry continues to thrive in Ireland.

"The gains made by the sector during the COVID-19 pandemic have not waned significantly in the last year but it’s important that the industry does not become complacent and continues to innovate and evolve".
