A man has been arrested in relation to a serious assault which happened in Cork City last month.
On September 12th, a man in his 40s was seriously assaulted on Patrick Street in Cork City.
It happened shortly after 9pm close to the junction with Academy Street.
Following the assault, the victim was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment on serious injuries.
He remains in hospital, where his condition is still believed to be serious.
This morning a man in his 40s was arrested in relation to the assault.
He's being detained detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Gurranabraher Garda Station.
