Mother And Daughter Remain In Critical Condition Following Stabbing In Co. Clare

An eight-year-old girl and a 46-year-old woman are in a critical condition in hospital, after they were discovered unconscious at a house in Co. Clare yesterday.

The mother and daughter - believed to be Ukrainian refugees - were discovered at a property in Clarecastle yesterday morning.

The 8-year-old girl sustained serious stab wounds, has since been transferred to a Children's Hospital in Dublin from University Hospital Limerick.

Her 46-year-old mother is also believed to be in a critical condition in hospital, however her injuries are not yet known.

It's reported the mother and daughter are Ukrainian refugees, who were staying at the property when the incident occurred.

An incident room has been set up at Ennis Garda Station.
