The one-millionth dose of a Covid-19 vaccine has been administered in Ireland today.

Over 700,000 people have received their first dose of the jab.

Meanwhile, more than 290,000 people are fully vaccinated against the virus.

The HSE has also confirmed between 180 and 190 thousand doses will be given across the country next week.

However, it'll be late this month or early next month before a quarter of a million jabs are being administered on a weekly basis.

HSE CEO Paul Reid says they will "largely be completing" the vaccination of 80-84 year-olds next week, while their focus will remain on over 70s and people in high-risk groups.
