The Director of Public Prosecutions has decided not to pursue a charge of sexual assault against Al Porter.
The well-known entertainer was accused of sexually assaulting a young man in a Dublin venue three years ago.
An order prohibiting the media from identifying the 26-year-old was lifted after the judge struck out the case this afternoon.
Mr Porter, whose real name is Alan Kavanagh, made a brief statement outside court afterwards.
“Today the DPP has directed to drop their charge,” he said.
“I would like to thank my family and my friends and my solicitors, Michael Staines and Aoife Corridan, for their support over the last two years.
“For two long and very anxious years, I have fully cooperated and I have respected the legal process.
“Just to say, I was in complete agreement with waiving anonymity today even before I knew that the DPP had made their decision to withdraw the case, to withdraw the charge, because I have always denied any wrongdoing whatsoever in this case.
