Hourihane poised for Championship loan, as Brady ponders Turkey

Robbie Brady and Conor Hourihane are among a handful of Republic of Ireland internationals set to find new clubs this week.

Hourihane is set to join Sheffield United on loan.

Brady, meanwhile, is rumoured to be heading for Gaziantep in Turkey.

Hourihane has found himself shuffled even further down the midfield pecking order at Aston Villa, despite captaining the Premier League side in their Carabao Cup hammering of Barrow last week.

The 30-year old was an unused substitute in Villa's recent Premier League games with Newcastle and Brentford.

The Cork native made a solid impact during another loan spell in the Championship last season.

Hourihane spent the second half of the campaign with Swansea City, scoring five goals in 22 appearances en route to a playoff final defeat to Brentford.

At Sheffield United, he'll link up with Ireland teammates John Egan and Enda Stevens, and former international colleague David McGoldrick.

Brady has been without a club following his release by Burnley at the end of last season.

While injuries have played a part in dwindling game time in recent seasons, the former Hull and Manchester United winger feels people got the wrong impression of his later months at Turf Moor.

"There can be a perception,” he recently told the Irish Examiner, "People probably don’t realise that I was available for 80% of Burnley’s matches last season, the average for most players, up to the injury in March.

"I had four-and-a-half great years at Burnley, qualifying for Europe for the first time in 50 years, but last season there wasn’t much change in the team.

"That was to generate a rhythm, but meant it was difficult getting back in if you missed a match."

Hourihane was included in Stephen Kenny's Republic of Ireland squad for this week's World Cup qualifiers with Portugal, Azerbaijan and Serbia. However, Brady was omitted.

Prospective new club Gaziantep sit second from bottom in the Turkish Super Lig following a 2-0 defeat away to Yeni Malatyaspor at the weekend.
